🌿 Rebuilding Peace: Peggy’s Backyard in Elk River, MN
Lucas Zoucha
There’s something really special about restoring a space to what it once was — and that’s exactly what this project with Peggy turned out to be.
Her backyard in Elk River had good bones, but it needed a full refresh. We tore down the old retaining walls and rebuilt them from the ground up using new block, shaped with care. To strengthen the space and add texture, we brought in more riprap blue stone, which now flows beautifully through the yard like a dry riverbed.
One of the bigger undertakings was raising the yard’s elevation. We brought in five yards of rich black dirt, regraded the area, and reseeded the lawn to give her a soft, lush space to enjoy all summer.
Peggy was an absolute joy to work with — thoughtful, kind, and deeply connected to her home. This project was about more than landscaping; it was about reclaiming peace and simplicity in a space she loved.
