This outdoor restoration project near Cedar Lake in Minneapolis addressed multiple long-standing issues involving fencing, drainage, and patio stability that were impacting both function and appearance.
The homeowners reached out after experiencing water pooling, soil erosion, and patio settlement caused by improper drainage near a downspout. In addition, their aging pine fence had deteriorated and required replacement while maintaining the original character of the property.
We began by rebuilding the fence using high-quality cedar pickets in the same classic style. A custom, hand-built gate was constructed and fitted with new hardware to ensure smooth operation and long-term durability.
Next, we corrected the drainage problem by installing a catch basin, connecting underground drain tile, routing it beneath the patio, and extending the system to the property line with a pop-up emitter. This redirected water safely away from the home and prevented future erosion and foundation issues.
With drainage resolved, the affected pavers were carefully removed, the compromised base was rebuilt, and the original stones were reinstalled. This preserved the patio’s unique patina while restoring proper structural support.
