This side yard renovation project in Southwest Minneapolis focused on correcting improper drainage and replacing a failing concrete walkway that was directing water toward the home’s foundation.

The existing concrete path had developed a negative slope, causing rainwater and snowmelt to flow directly into the basement. Over time, this led to moisture concerns and ongoing maintenance issues for the homeowners.

We began by removing the deteriorated concrete and excavating the entire side yard area. Proper grading and base preparation were completed to establish positive drainage away from the structure and prevent future water intrusion.

 A new paver walkway was then installed with a carefully engineered slope to redirect runoff safely away from the home. The system provides both long-term structural stability and an upgraded visual appearance.

The homeowners were actively involved throughout the process, including selecting the paver materials. This collaborative approach ensured the finished walkway matched both functional requirements and personal style preferences.
